How much would fixing a hole in a piston of a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse?

I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder Convertible how much would it cost to fix a hole in a piston? I would be doing it by hand, so how much would the piston cost and fixing it?|||Honestly more than the car is worth. It is not just the piston but bearings, rings, gaskets, fluids, Head evaluation|||You all get a big EPIC FAIL! DSMs cost money. ALOT! So buy it for what it is and work from there. (These cars are called "racecars" for a reason! : ) God bless.

|||I am 99% sure YOU cannot fix this. If you're asking this question then you have no idea what you're talking about. You would need to take the engine out and strip it down and put it back together to exact specs.





It would cost a lot.





good luck!|||the problem is that some thing caused the hole and that would be the head dropping a valve. so you need a new engine. some times you can get lucky with a used engine that wont break the bank.|||Well you will be better off to replace the engine with one from a salvage yard. Then if the cause of the damaged piston was not the motor you may end up with the same problem as you now have. If it has lost compression on a cylinder that could be a burnt valve and not the piston. This is not a simple task and requires allot of technical knowledge to perform this job. You don't just change a piston you will need to do a complete rebuild of the engine. This is not cheap requires machine shop work on the block and the head or heads. If it burnt a hole in the piston it most likely scared the cylinder wall as well. This is for a skilled professional if you are not then you may want to find one.
