What Performance Or Tuning Chip Is Best For A Mitsubishi Eclipse?

Hello,

I am wanting to add horespower to my car. I am wanting to add either a performance chip or a tuner to my car to make it gain horespower. Who makes the best for a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS? Thanks a lot you guys...

Also, answer the question and don't make your own!|||unfortunatly power chips have been proven over and over again to be worthless, and they do not do what the manufacturer claims. There is no horsepower boost are any EXTRA hp the manufacturer did not use when building your car. In fact on new cars these chips will void warranties due to the disappointing problems they created in some cars, computer problems, lean conditions that can burn up a motor if not fixed. Also on some diesels and some expensive race engines there were some catastrophic explosions when the engines exploded. There is no way to boost a cars horsepower, and give it better gas mileage, thats not going to happen. Another scam is cold air intakes. All cars now have a factory cold air intake. It goes over to the inner fender and is quiet. aftermarket air filters open into the engine compartment, so the owner now "hears " the cars intake, this is not extra horsepower and does not make a car faster. The best thing to do is what I did, go to a trusted mechanic, and ask him what he thinks. Mine told me to save my money, none of that crap worked. His exact words were if its not broken dont fix it.so I left it at that.|||If you want to add horsepower, a chip is not the answer. You need hard parts. But, to humor you I would suggest getting an AEM EMS standalone engine management system. If you get one of those, the computer can be specially tuned to your engine on a chassis dyno. But really, you need to do things like change to higher lift/longer duration cams, raise your compression ratio, run a free-flowing exhaust, add a super/turbocharger before any sort of computer tuning is worthwhile from either a horsepower or monetary standpoint.

Long story short, eBay chips and handheld tuners are basically useless on a stock car. Ain't no fool eeking another 20 hp just by messing up the ignition timing and and injector pulse width tables on a stock motor.
