How much would a new engine/motor for a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero cost?

I have a 2002 mitsubishi montero with high miles on it and a dtc of p0421. I am about to replace the catalytic converter and was curious what the price range would be to replace the motor in case i find that my pistons are going bad!! All answers greatly appreciated!|||A new engine through the dealership and the applicable labor would run between 7-10 thousand dollars. I'd try to find a used one with a warranty.|||The pistons in a 2002 shouldn't be even close to going bad, unless that's a cursed engine.





But an engine like that, depending on what engine you have, should run between 2000 and 5000 dollars, and that's without installation.





Keep in mind, most of the engines you get for replacement are actually rebuilt engines instead of new, just a little fyi.|||call the dealer and find out|||check on craigslist.com
