How do i remove the radio console from a 2005 Mitsubishi? how do i get the dash out so i can gain access to the back of the radio? do u have to remove any screws, clips something ? where from?

What kind of spark plugs does Mitsubishi use?

I just got a used 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse a few months ago and i was going to change the spark plugs. What kind does Mitsubishi use? I would call but the dealership is closed and I was just curious. Thanks for any help. I was thinking of trying those E3 spark plugs but what would be the absolute best ones to use?|||The absolute BEST plug to use in a Mitsubishi (or any other Japanese car) are the NGKs it was supplied with from the factory. E3s, Bosches and ANYTHING but an NGK or Champion will throw a check engine light. And Champions are JUNK.|||Mark l is absolutely right. I made that mistake a few years ago when I replaced the spark plugs on my '02 Montero Limited. Can't remember what it was but it wasn't NGK. It was one of those more expensive platinum ones. But anyway, after I replaced the old ones, the truck was not running smoothly. Brought it to the dealership and asked them to take a look at it. They replaced the plugs with NGK and lo and behold the truck ran better. What a waste of money and time!

How do you install an intercooler in a 1998 mitsubishi eclipse GSX?

I have a 1998 Mitsubishi eliclipse GSX, and i purchased a ECLIPSE GSX GST DSM 4G63 TURBO INTERCOOLER+PIPING on ebay. I'm not sure how to fit and hold the intercooler on my car, and the pipping doesn't seem to fit (the shape of the tubbing) from the intercooler to the engine./turbo. I would really appreciate any help, or any directions to where i can get a diagram or instructions. Thank you!|||Without seeing the kit it's difficult to tell. The intercooler should have flanges on the ends. Sometimes there are predrilled holes and sometimes not. You'll have to fit the pipes to the engine first. Are there instructions with the kit? If not you'll have to determine which pipe goes where. It should fit, unless you got a really cheaply made kit that just kind of fits. If it won't fit you'll have to try and modify it. Good luck. But make absolutly sure it doesn't fit, in any order, two or three times over before trying to beat it into submission.

When you get the pipes to fit on both ends, fit up the intercooler and see where it would best be mounted. If it has pre drilled holes, mark them on the frame of the car or a radiator bracket, where ever they fall. If there are no pre drilled holes then you get to pick and choose where you want to drill them. So mark the intercooler, take it back off, drill the holes, put it back on, mark the holes on the frame or rad brackets, take the intercooler off and drill those holes.

NOTE: Some intercoolers are flow directional meaning that the air flows better through the intercooler one way. If this is the case the inlet and outlet should be marked some way, either by arrows or words. Before you drill any holes make sure the intercooler is oriented correctly.

Now take everything back off.

Start by working from the turbo forward, install one pipe at a time, making sure the connections are somewhat tight, then do the intercooler and finally to the intake. Now afer averything seems to be fit right, tighten down all of the clamps and fittings that join the pipes together. Hook up any sensors of valves you need to and you should be good to go.

Like I said without seeing your exact circumstance it's hard to give detailed advice. This is just a general guide.

How difficult is it to replace the drivers side power window motor in a 2000 mitsubishi eclipse?

its a 2000 mitsubishi eclipse gt...v6 engine...i am just curious how time-consuming it is in general to replace the motor for the power window...i already have purchased the part, just trying to see what i should expect....thanks in advance|||If you are replacing the regulator, the window must come out. The outer door trim comes off to make a larger opening to pull the window out. The window guide cups must be removed to get the window out. (the round threaded retainers are fun to remove). It's about a 3 hour job and I would recommend having the dealer do it for you. An after market garage is likely to F it up. This is not an easy one!|||I have done it on a Chevrolet before.. hardest part will be getting the door panel off. There should be a clip that goes into the motor and all you have to do is pull it out and put in the new motor on the clip and put your door panel back on but be careful NOT to break the clips that hold the panel on. (this is assuming that chevrolet and mitsubishi are somewhat similar, they should be unless mitsubishi cam up with some crazy assembly)|||I've never done it before, but I have had to have it replaced in my own car. It didn't take them very long at all...I waited while they did and they didn't even charge me for the labor. So I would imagine that it can't be very hard.

How do you work the heat in a 95 Mitsubishi Diamante?

I know I seem a bit SLLLOOOOWW but I recently purchased a Mitsubishi Diamante from a girl on Craigslist and I am having a horrible time getting the heat to work, by the time I have it figured out, I'm at my destination. I just press a combination of buttons and see what happens! Help, I have to get back in that thing tomorrow morning and Im in Michigan where the weather sucks!|||Check out the heater display and set the arrows for where you want the heat to come out. Set the temperature to the highest setting. Turn the fan on to the speed you want.

If it does not make heat you should have the cooling system checked for leaks and make sure the motor thermostat is good.

How cheap is car insurance for a 16 year-old Floridian boy driving a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer?

I'm a 16 yo dude in Florida wanting car insurance for my 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer and I have never gotten any ticket of any kind. I have not violated any rules....yet.|||Since you're 16 and basically have no driving record yet, your insurance premiums are going to be sky high. I wouldn't count on less than $1500-$2000/ Year. Keep your grades high- "B" or better average. Take driver's ed and driver's training if your school offers those. Those qualifications might afford you small discounts. If you want to know why young people get stomped for insurance, look at that "yet..." in your last sentence. Everybody breaks rules. Most people get caught once or twice. Every ticket costs not only the fine, but an insurance rate increase for years.|||Tom is right--you'll want to be sitting down when you get the premiums on even a "small, affordable" car like the Lancer. The comp/collision figures will eat you alive. Buy a beater for cash and use the money you save for buying gas.|||Since at 16 you can't have your own insurance, have your parents call their agent and ask what it would cost to add you to theirs driving a brand new car. Then look at 10 year old cars as your first car instead.|||is the car under "your name" if not the owner must add you as a daily driver. For a 16 yr old its a little pricey I guarantee.|||Ask your parents to ask their insurer. There is no other way to know.

Does anyone know where i can get a 2006 mitsubishi montero sport?

I have looked on the internet but all i can find is used ones. I want a brand new one. I think mitsubishi stopped selling them here in the US. So how can i find one?|||They do still make the Montero, so if you want to buy one, my recommendation would be to go to a Mitsubishi dealer...as for the Sport, to my knowledge, it was just a label affixed to the vehicle to make it seem sportier. Nothing on the vehicle actually changed.|||They are over priced hunks of junk. The vehicle is not worth the sum of its parts.

Ask about ten people who own them, see what they have to say and if you still want one then.. go for it!|||The Mitsubishi Montero Sport has been discontinued. For a while now too I think.

You have to ask yourself: Do you really want one? There are better choices out there. (For off roading, a Jeep or Toyota 4Runner; for on road refinement, a Toyota Highlander or Ford Freestye)

But if you still do, I would look at the regular Montero. Be warned that the Montero and Montero Sport are two TOTALLY different vehicles. The Montero is larger with 3 rows of seats while the Montero Sport is smaller and somewhat cheaper. (at least they were a few years back)

I'm assuming you can't spend more than $100,000 because theoretically you could import one legally into the US from Saudi Arabia or something. But you would have to submit ten or fifteen identical Montero Sports to NHTSA to crash test them, then you have to retrofit them to fit US Emissions and crash safety standards. The cost? Millions. Or so I've read.

Just skip the Montero Sport. It wasn't a great SUV five years ago, it certainly won't be one now.

Can anyone help me get a code to reset the radio in my 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse?

So, I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse and my battery died. After replacing it i need a code to reset my radio. I've been told it could cost up to $100 to get this code from the dealership. The serial # is 9Z235028A and the MR # is 337271. Can anyone please help? Thanks!|||Don't bother trying to find a dealer that won't charge you for this.

Instead, call 1-888-MITSU2005. That's the number to mitsubishi north america. Someone I know recently called to get their radio code because their battery had to be replaced. They simply asked to speak to someone that could help with their code. The lady on the line never transferred them. She just asked for the vin and serial number from the radio and then looked up the radio code. Just be nice and say your battery died.

There was no charge to provide this radio code unlike what alot of dealers do.|||its usually on the side of the radio i have a 2000 galant didnt need to reset it. for 100 dollars you can just buy a new stereo and play mp3's lol

How much do you have to pay up front to lease a 07/08 Mitsubishi Eclipse?

I have to save for a a 07/08 Mitsubishi Eclipse I am getting it in the fall and I was wondering about how much would I have to pay up front to lease it?

I live in US.|||Honestly....... Nothing. If you have good enough credit and or a trade in. You never really have to put anything down. Putting money down is just to help reduce the over all amount of interest that is on the account. Because if you put 5000 down and the car costs around 23000 then you only have to pay interest on 18,000 so you save in more in the long run. But most automobile companies and businesses that sell the automobiles are hurting so badly because of gas. That now they dont demand a percentage down, they just want you to buy a car.|||Id say around $3000

Why does Mitsubishi charge so much for parts and anything over 4 cyl uses premium gas?|||If you think Mitsubishi factory parts are pricey you should check what BMW, Lexus, Mercedes Benz etc. charge.

The premium gas keeps the motor from Knocking. Anyone else deal with the Mitsubishi powertrain warranty?

I have a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavoor. My engine overheated to the point of no return yesterday. The dealer says that the warranty won't cover it because "it got so hot." As if I held a propane torch to it and did it on purpose! The car has 70,000 miles on it. I got regular oil changed along the way, and it never needed anything more than average maintenance (air filters, fluids topped off).

Anyone have any experience dealing with Mitsubishi and their 100,000 warranty?|||If you have the proof of maintenance, then don't admit to anything except the right to have their warranty honored! The dealer and manufacturer has to accommodate the average owner's ability to minimize damage to the car when things go wrong. So I would stick up for my rights under the power train warranty, and check with other dealers if necessary. Then I would take the claim to the manufacturer's regional representative for all dealers. My daughter had a similar claim under Hyundai's engine powertrain warranty, and at first they "stonewalled" the claim saying she hadn't maintained the car properly, but when shown proof of maintenance, they replaced the engine. Since then the car has been ok. Remember that the service representative your dealing with is simply saying what he or she thinks the company's position is, but they in no way can really speak for what the proper manufacturer settlement should be.

What are good muffler tips for a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT?

I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, and I want to make my car sound deeper and louder by getting a muffler tip, but I don't know much about muffler tips. So I'm wondering what muffler tip can do the job. I'm looking for one under the $70 range. I gladly appreciate it if you'd could give me some links and advise :)|||Dont listen to Bobbie Bushea. He drives the bone stalk Eclipse that puts out 140 hp and thinks stick shift makes his junk bigger or something.

But anyways, for the 2000 GT id definitely recommend getting the Invidia n1 (youtube invidia n1 eclipse). They sound great on our 3g's. Especially us with 6 cylinders. I doubt your going to find anything that sounds good for 70 dollars though. Like 70 dollars will make your car sound horrible, plz dont do that.

Anyways, thats my advice. hope this helps.|||There are some muffler tips that enhance the sound of your vehicle, my cousin who often attends car shows with his eclipse bought a few muffler tips which made his car sound pretty load and deep. I really don't know what this guy is talking about it being a girl car, I seen many guys have this car in car shows and around the streets. And how does a car get a reputation of being one's gender's car. Anyways i know you wouldn't be asking for mufflers if your car is an auto. :) Check out your local muffler shops and get more info :) instead of listens to dumbass like the person who answered first. Good luck with you car. Hope this helped somewhat.

When trying to drive it on the road/flat ground it slips %26amp; revs out, then will grab hard, and then slip all over again. What is the easiest way to get old gas out of a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse tank?

i am trying to get out the old gas in my mitsubishi eclipse by siphoning it out, but it seems like the tube doesnt want to go all the way down and go into the tank. what could be the problem? is there an easier way to get out the gas? i looked for a plug on the tank but i couldnt see one. is there a cover over the tank to protect it, and could the plug be under the cover?

i just want to find out the easiest way to get out the old gas, so if anyone knows please let me know|||should have a fuel rail on your motor by the injector it`s run on top of your motor with a screw on cap you need a special hose to tap on it and have motor running they use this port to check fuel pressure|||The tank has a rollover valve which keeps you from getting you siphon hose in. If you really need to get the gas out you could pump it out by A. Disconnect the fuel line at the filter or other convienient location, and attach a hose to it or use a drain pan to catch the gas. B. find the fuel pump relay and jumper the terminals thus turning on the fuel pump and pumping the gas out of the tank.

I have had cars with old gas and if there was less than 1/2 tank I simply put some new gas in it and then drove it all out. then filled it up and replaced the fuel filter.|||Define "old gas" ?? If you mean gas that has sat in your tank for a couple of years just add new gas on top and go. Keep adding as it gets lower and it will be so diluted it won't make any difference. ( imho ) If you mean "contaminated" gas as in water or foreign liquids/solids then yes, you should get it out. I think the simplest way would be to disconnect your fuel line. Most new vehicles have an "anti-siphon" coil in the filler hose to prevent just what you are trying to do....lol. Other than these ideas you can remove the entire fuel tank and dump it, not a job I would envy.

Being as it's only a "Mitsubishi" maybe you could just get some friends together and roll it on it's roof and let the gas run out the filler spout .............j/k ...lol.|||do it like "pumper tech" said.|||Open up the fuel line on the bottom of the car that runs from the tank. That is obviouslly a very dangerous way of doing it, but I imagin you are almost on empty, right? I wouldn't even recommend doing that, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do

Is it ok to install a turbo charger or a supercharger in a mitsubishi lancer 1991 model for added horsepower?

my mitsubishi lancer 1991 model is only a carburator type and is only 1300 or a 1.3L gas displacement. will a turbo charger or supercharger have a good effect or a bad effect. what else can i do to gain more horsepower?|||Its not worth it wit hthat engine.

1. Its carbureted and carbs work off of pressure differential to meter fuel in short. Adding pressure will cause the carb to dump fuel unregulated into the engine and flood the motor.

2. Chances are you have got a ton of miles on the car and normal wear and tear on the piston rings and other bears will be sure to cause a failure.

My suggestion would be go and buy a newer evo, or engine swap if it will fit.|||hell no it will blow ur f***** car up!!!!|||Just change your engine. Try the engine of the Eclipse, that should do the trick, Good Luck! :-)|||u can put a turbo onto anything u want.

just use ur head and dont go putting like 20psi and u will be fine use a normal stock kinda turbo and u should be good.

there is a good bit or work that goes into a turbo kit though u might wanna look at doing a COLD AIR intake for the car and put an exhuast system on it.

those 2 things should help with some power|||you could toss a turbo on it, but you'd need to go with a weaker 3psi or maybe 5psi, but the only problem is, in the long run u may lose horsepower due to your engine being carburated, look for the supercharged engine out of an older eclipse or eagle talon if they'll fit, or buy a eagle or an eclipse and work with that, it will be easier to just buy a strong supercharger|||you can put a turbo but say bye to ur motor and hello to many trips to the shops.

DONT do it. It will take a lot of money , mods, and trips to the shop to work all the kinks out. Turbos are high maintanance, especially with an older model vehicle.

If ur car is N/A...keep it that way

but if you have money to burn, do what you please.|||just do a 4G63 mitsu engine swap from an evo. that'll give you 285 hp and have an awsome sleeper. that'll probably cost you more than the car is worth though. SO you would be better just buyign an older gen. evo and going from there. Since an evo is already turboed, it should have enough power, and you can always upgrade to a bigger t/3 t/4 turbo later. stay away from superchargers, they don't work good on inline 4 cylider engines. leave em alone for the guys with their stangs'

How to open the roof of the Mitsubishi eclipse spyder?

I have just rented a Mitsubishi eclipse spyder from avis, but don't know how to open the roof because I've never driven a convertible before. I tried to press the ''open '' and ''close'' button, at first the windows opened and closed, but afterward, it is only making beep sound. I don't know why, and do any one know how to open/close the roof? Thanks a lot! |||If it is a 2000-2009 Eclipse spyder then here is what you do. Above the sun visors there are clasps, one on each side. Unfasten the clasps by following the arrow diagrams, tilt the visors so they don't interfere. Then press the "open" button and hold it down until the windows are down and the roof has been lowered. You must keep the button pressed the whole time the roof is lowering or raising or it will either stop midway or not work at all and beep. The beeping sound you are getting is probably due to the clasps not allowing the roof to lower. This should help you.

How many liters of transmission does a Mitsubishi Lancer 1990 take?

Does anyone know were I can find replacement carpet for my 2000 mitsubishi eclipse?

I have searched and searched but have came up empty. I am looking for new carpet for a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I cant seem to find any carpet for models over the 1999 eclipse. Why is this? I really need carpet. My air condition leaked all over and started to mold. I cleaned everything up and fixed the leak(hopefully) I just need new carpet because it now has odor that is not so pleasant. Please let me know of anything you can find. Does mitsubishi Plan to bring back the Montero to the US?

I've got a 2003 Montero XLS, and It's just about the best SUV I have ever driven, I've been buying monteros for 20 years and I love them, yet Mitsubishi has stopped selling them in the US, they still sell the Pajero (same as Montero) everywhere else, and it looks amazing. Does anyone know if they plan to bring back the montero to the US?|||Thanks to the Endeavor I doubt it. There really isn't a comparable Mitsubishi to your Montero right now... you might be able to call an AWD Endeavor or Outlander similar, but that's as close as it gets. The Endeavor is a great vehicle so you can't go wrong with it, but it is NOT a Montero by any means. The good news is, if you take care of yours you might be able to make it until something returns... keep up with the t-belts, tranny maint., and the common oil leaks (change the valve cover gaskets and tube seals during spark plug changes to avoid doing it at a later date) and your truck will last a LONG time... oh, and throw it in 4wd occasionally when going straight to keep the components from getting used to the 2wd positions and failing down the road.|||MITSUBISHI WILL COME OUT WITH A NEW MONTERO IN 2 YEAR

|||No. MItsubishi has no immediate plans to bring the Montero over to the US. Sales of the last model Montero was very poor that the company does not find it lucrative anymore. Hopefully soon. Muffler = extremely loud.|||Not much you really can do... The N/a lancers are not meant to be turbocharged as well. If you do, you will start to have wear and tear faster. I wouldn't even bother to invest money into the that Lancer which only has like 120 bhp. Even if you put intake, headers, full exhaust, and ecu. You will probably get about 5-10 at the wheels. Plus being an automatic, don't waste the money on turbo or anything. Just put intake and exhaust and by happy with what you got until then.|||1. turbo

I have a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer ES with 4-speed automatic transmission. I am very interested in upgradeing my car to be like, if not better than, the Evolution model of this vehicle. Most of the parts I look at imply that they are for the Evolution model. What I want to know is what I would have to do to my car to be able to put in preformance parts such as a turbo, headers, blow off valves, etc. I assume I will have to put in a 5-speed manual tramsmission, is this enough for the types of parts I am interested in? What all do I have to do?|||It would cost more than a lancer evo to buy all the parts you would need to make your like a evo! Your 2wd has basically the same engine but the internal pats wount handle the horsepower for long, then there is the 4wd issue that will cost you about $15,000 to resolve. Point...............Not worth it......go buy a real evo.|||i have an lancer se,and some people said that es cannot be modified.the motor is not enough strong to put a turbo.

but my mechanician said to me that have sometghing to do .try a simple way to put the air more directly to save near 17 hp.

The obstacle you have to go thru is:

1. you are looking for a complete rebuild

2. you are going to void the waranty.

3. its going to end up cost A LOT more than buy an Evo from the dealer.

Swaping from a Auto to manual tranny will alrdy cost you $3,000

What small upgrades could I do to add HP to my Mitsubishi Mirage?

I own a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage DE 1.8L MFI 4cyl. I wanted to know what little upgrades I could do to my vehicle to add Horsepower and keep it in great running condition.|||The most common updates are: High performance cold air intake, exhaust system, larger throttle body and re-programing the OCM (computer). Re-programing the computer can be done with a ready to load program that you can purchase at performance suppliers like: JC Whitney, Summit Performance and few other. Now...when you finish tuning that mirage, you probably can get a spot on the next FAST %26amp; FURIOUS movie and kick Vin Diesel big block Charger. You can check on line for these and many other tuner parts. Good luck...!|||I don't know how small you want to go but,

***adding Extractors AKA "Headers" will give you a boost of up to 20%.

***Changing the air intake would also help. Yella Terra make exeptional stuff.

***Modifying your exhaust to high flow means less air restriction and more performance. This will also make your ride sound like a beast.

I all ready added a new intake (short ram air, top of line). But dont know what else to added?|||At this stage, the cheapest thing to do is to remove parts.

Remove the rear of the interior; seats, paneling, trunk items; spare tire, jack, carpeting, paneling.

Remove rotational mass from the engine; air conditioning compressor, power steering pump. You'll have to get a different serpentine belt for this though.

Use a thinner, fully synthetic oil. 5W-30 Mobil 1 should be fine, but don't get an oil thinner than that for the summer months.

Port the throttle body with a Dremel tool and some fine grain sand paper around 200 grit.

Make sure your tires are properly inflated to the vehicle manufacturer's specification for the appropriate amount of road contact and tire wear.

Add Water Wetter to the coolant and replace your existing thermostat with a fail-safe 180* thermostat.

Those are the cheap routes. Now is on to the relatively costly modifications.

Replace your exhaust system with a larger bore system. Remove the catalytic converter (if it doesn't have an O2 sensor in it, which I believe it does) or replace it with a high flowing catalytic converter. Remove the resonator as well. Basically going 3" straight back from the catalytic converter.

Replace the headers with higher-flowing headers.

If you want a lot more power, you'll have to go with one or two turbochargers. That's the deal when building a vehicle. Turbochargers produce the most horsepower per dollar in comparison to building a naturally aspirated vehicle.|||Jack up the license plate, and replace the car with a first generation, manual transmissioned, all wheel drive Talon/Eclipse or Laser.|||It's just not worth it. That 3.0 V6 is worthless and wont make much power even with heavy tuning.

-thanks!|||"thebax20" has answered your question, all I would add is this; you have already put in one can of leak repair adding another is definitely going to plug up your cooling system real good. Plugged up cooling systems are not a lot of fun.|||Stop leak will plug up the heater core. Advance Auto has cheap radiators that work. Any green antifreeze mixed 50/50 will work. Make sure you run the motor for 15 minutes with the climate control set to the hottest setting and have the blower fan off. You also leave the radiator cap off. This will help purge the air from the cooling system. Make sure the radiator fan cycles once and no more air bubbles come out when you squeeze the upper radiator hose. Put the radiator cap on. Overfill the reservoir about 1" and check the level in the morning when the vehicle is cold. They always seem to suck more coolant in overnight.|||regular green all make and model 50/50 to repair the leak you will have to replace whatever part is leaking if you don't want to ruin the engine

Mitsubishi?

when I c the price of Mitsubishi cars they rnt expensive for nice new cars like the new 2008 Eclipse why r they priced so cheap r they sucky cars r they good wats wrong with them?|||There isn't anything wrong with the cars that Mitsubishi makes. They are, on the otherhand, so underrated. The cars that suck in their lineup are actually cars made by Chrysler and rebadged as a Mitsubishi. Case in point, the Raider. It's a Dodge Dakota. The 1st and 2nd gen Eclipse share the same platform as the Lasers and Talons. The 420a engine is shared by the base models. They have a bad rap, having oil leaks from substandard head gaskets. They are however not as well made as the Hondas and the Toyotas. They are still good. And why are they so cheap? Not really! They are actually a little pricey for the quality of materials being used. I believe that Mitsubishi builds very competitive cars. They last very long as well when cared for. Mitsubishi has one colorful history in the world of automotive rally competition. They have been dominating the Dakar to Paris Rally and had won the race five or seven (?) times in a row with the Montero. Honda and Toyota cannot say that of their cars.

The Eclipse is actually good, but cannot be recommended by Consumer Reports because it got a low score in their tests. Predicted reliability is above average, better than most cars out there.|||Mitsubishi is a very reliable company to buy from. However, in my opinion, the Lancer Evolution X is your best bet from them.|||Mitsubishi's are underated|||They are junk, if you are looking for an AWD fast car, buy a Subaru, they are cheap because they suck, and when you spend $20,000 on one and drive it off of the lot they are worth $10,000. I am considering purchasing a Mitsubishi automobile. How much would a new engine/motor for a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero cost?

I have a 2002 mitsubishi montero with high miles on it and a dtc of p0421. I am about to replace the catalytic converter and was curious what the price range would be to replace the motor in case i find that my pistons are going bad!! All answers greatly appreciated!|||A new engine through the dealership and the applicable labor would run between 7-10 thousand dollars. I'd try to find a used one with a warranty.|||The pistons in a 2002 shouldn't be even close to going bad, unless that's a cursed engine.

But an engine like that, depending on what engine you have, should run between 2000 and 5000 dollars, and that's without installation.

Keep in mind, most of the engines you get for replacement are actually rebuilt engines instead of new, just a little fyi.|||call the dealer and find out|||check on craigslist.com

How do you recharge the a/c in a 01 mitsubishi mirage?

If you know how to cross the wires over or something to turn the compressor back on so I can recharge the freon please give detailed directions on how. Thanks alot in advance for any and all responses!!|||It doesn't work this way...if the freon is low means there is a leak somewhere that needs to be repaired. Plus, you would need a special equipment that mechanics have in a garage. Take it to a mechanic.

How do you replace a harmonic balancer on a 94 mitsubishi mirage?

My husbands uncle gave us a mitsubishi mirage but the harmonic balancer needs replaced. I called a few shops and got quoted $360 but I know it can be done at home for cheaper so I was wondering if anybody could explain to me how to do it or find a link to a page that explains it to me. I really do not have $360 right now to repair it.|||Sure.

I don't know how the Mits is set up (except that I'm positive it is front wheel drive, right?) so this is generic information. The harmonic balancer is located behind the pulley at the bottom of the front of your engine.

Before you start you will need to buy a harmonic balancer puller (or rent one, if possible).

Remove your serpentine belt.

Gain access underneath your car at the front of the engine (note I said front of the engine, NOT the front of your car.)

Prior to that, it will probably help to have jacked the automobile, make sure it is securely supported by jackstands! (You do not want to know how many people who have died slowly, trapped like rats, when there car fell off the jack on top of them. Trapped like a rat, mind you.)

You will need the right sized metric socket to remove the bolt to pull the pulley (at the bottom of your engine in front of the harmonic blancer). match it up %26amp; purchase it if needed.

The harmonic balancer puller is a gear puller specialized to pull harmonic balancers. Once you have the pulley off %26amp; see the puller, the task will be self explanatory. The harmonic balancer is keyed %26amp; is a very close tolerance fit on the shaft. It would be an exercise in futility to attempt removal without this tool.

Remember: this information is generic %26amp; applicable to ALL engines.

If Mits stuffed the front of the engine up so close to the fenderwall that you can not get the right access, the engine mounts need to be unbolted from the frame %26amp; the position of the engine will need to be manipulated. At this point, I suggest you farm the maintenace out.

Good luck.|||go to your local public library they have motor and chilton's auto repair manuals for almost any application you can name. i am sure you can find step by step detailed information in one of them.

How much does it cost to replace a '01 mitsubishi mirage ?

I was t-boned in my '01 2 door mitsubishi mirage earlier this week. My insurance is covering the damge, but since I'm required to pay a $500 deductible I'm curious on how much the repairs are actually going to cost. I already assumed the tire rod would be about $80, and the dents would be about the same. I'm sure most won't know the exact cost, but I can't even find an estimate on the web.|||Hard to say because it varies by ZIP, mileage and condition, but it will be in the neighborhood of $1,775

If you were T-boned and it wasn't your fault, you shouldn't have to pay deductible.

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi eclipse and i think my fuel relays are bad. When I connect the battery and ohmmeter to the relay its suppose to indicate zero continuity but it is indicating .02 and .05. Are these relays bad?|||Infinite resistance is displayed in the form of O.L. on most multimeters, this means that the relays are blown, i.e., no contact between any of them. Any form of resistance such as your .02 Ohms and .05 Ohms means that there is some for of resistance within the relay, this indicates, assuming the Ohms are at the correct setting if you're not using an auto-ranging multimeter, that the relays are good, since there will always be some form of resistance in a circuit.|||pin 30 to pin 87 should be open circuit if the relay is not energized.

best way to check a relay is use a pocket screwdriver to pop the shell off and get a good

visual. if the contacts are burnt you can replace it or just cleaning them off will usually get you by for a while.|||In all the years I've worked on Mitsubishi's the only relays that have gone bad were in the Eclipse RS and GS. I highly doubt your car has a relay problem.

Try jumping the relay so that the fuel pump is always on and try starting the car.

You just have to replace them one by one using a jack lift. Actually, I just had mine replaced. What I did is jacked up the engine at the suggested mounting points in a way that the first mount I'm getting out lifts up. They're actually just bolt on so it's easy to remove/install new mounts. Can Canadians buy mitsubishi cars from america?

I live in Toronto, and want to go to Buffalo to a Mitsubishi dealership to buy a car. Will they sell me a car knowing I live in Canada?|||Maybe. Maybe not. It all depends upon the dealer. Some dealers are not permitted to sell to buyers from out-of-state or out-of-country. I would recommend doing some calling around if you're at all considering buying a vehicle from the United States.

Remember... if you want to do things legally you can't just go buy the vehicle and drive it back across the border into Canada like you own it. You've got 5% GST at minimum and various other fees to pony up @ Canada Customs if you're going to do this. Good luck.

What Performance Or Tuning Chip Is Best For A Mitsubishi Eclipse?

Hello,

I am wanting to add horespower to my car. I am wanting to add either a performance chip or a tuner to my car to make it gain horespower. Who makes the best for a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS? Thanks a lot you guys...

Also, answer the question and don't make your own!|||unfortunatly power chips have been proven over and over again to be worthless, and they do not do what the manufacturer claims. There is no horsepower boost are any EXTRA hp the manufacturer did not use when building your car. In fact on new cars these chips will void warranties due to the disappointing problems they created in some cars, computer problems, lean conditions that can burn up a motor if not fixed. Also on some diesels and some expensive race engines there were some catastrophic explosions when the engines exploded. There is no way to boost a cars horsepower, and give it better gas mileage, thats not going to happen. Another scam is cold air intakes. All cars now have a factory cold air intake. It goes over to the inner fender and is quiet. aftermarket air filters open into the engine compartment, so the owner now "hears " the cars intake, this is not extra horsepower and does not make a car faster. The best thing to do is what I did, go to a trusted mechanic, and ask him what he thinks. Mine told me to save my money, none of that crap worked. His exact words were if its not broken dont fix it.so I left it at that.|||If you want to add horsepower, a chip is not the answer. You need hard parts. But, to humor you I would suggest getting an AEM EMS standalone engine management system. If you get one of those, the computer can be specially tuned to your engine on a chassis dyno. But really, you need to do things like change to higher lift/longer duration cams, raise your compression ratio, run a free-flowing exhaust, add a super/turbocharger before any sort of computer tuning is worthwhile from either a horsepower or monetary standpoint.

Long story short, eBay chips and handheld tuners are basically useless on a stock car. Ain't no fool eeking another 20 hp just by messing up the ignition timing and and injector pulse width tables on a stock motor.

Does anybody know whether Daimler-Chrylser still hold a controlling interest or shares in Mitsubishi Motors?

I think at one point they held a 34% stake in Mitsubishi Motors but I have also heard that Daimler-Chrysler sold what they held and the Mitsubishi family of companies had to buy Mitsubishi-Motors to keep them afloat.

Can anyone please confirm?|||Mid 2000 - DCX buys 34% of Mitsubishi for $1.9bn.

Mid 2001 - DCX expands shareholding to 37%.

2004 - DCX refuses to finance a rescue package valued at between $2bn and $6bn. Mitsubishi is forced to issue new shares to raise funds. This causes DCX's stake to be diluted to 23% in May 2004, and subsequently to 12.4% with further share issues.

December 2005 - DCX sells the last of its shares for $800m.

I should know. Most of the Wikipedia article cited above was written by/expanded by me (I'm the user "DeLarge").

Also note that although they no longer control car and light truck production, DCX still owns 85% of Mitsubishi Fuso, the Bus and Commercial Truck manufacturer. And the two companies still have a few partnerships going (shared Mitsubishi/Chrysler platforms, the GEMA engine alliance, the next Smart Fortwo, etc etc).|||i hate to burst your bubble mate but i think you will find it is the other way around, with Mitsubishi owning majority shares in Daimler Chrysler they were not allowed to buy out completely because of legislation passed to protect US manufacturers.

In the UK they took over the lot and now there is no British owned manufacturers they are all owned off shore which means they no longer have a say in what happens to the factory's or the workers, they will make them were it is cheapest to manufacture, like south America or Mexico, that's capitalism|||In 2005 Chrysler announced that it would not buy remaining shares in Mitsubishi to help them out. Chrysler sold all remaining shares in Mitsubishi in 1993 and continued business with them in contract only. They were still buying components like engines from them up until recently but they've slowly been divorcing themselves from the Japanese automaker as their quality and sales have plummeted in recent years while DCX's quality has continued to improve and rise.

At one time Mitsubishi was a major contributor to Chrysler's salvation through the 1970's and 1980's. They produced the Colt, Arrow, D-50 and Arrow trucks, Sapporo/Challenger, Starion, Talon/Laser and Stealth for Chrysler in addition to thousands of reliable engines put into their American cars. It's sad to see them slip away like this.

Although the Mercedes/Chrysler merger saw a renewed interest in MMA with DCX again acquiring up to 34% stock, this was all liquidated in 2005 and MMA is completely on it's own again.

Personally, I like some of the German performance cars like the Mercedes AMGs and the BMW M3, but their fuel economy is not the greatest, to say the least. Other cars like the Neon SRT-4 and Eclipse GS-X, for instance, are pretty fast but also get around 30 mpg.

Remember to get a Carfax report on the car you are interested in.

Here are 25 ideas in no particular order:

1) Dodge Neon SRT-4 (MOPAR Stage 2 or 3 kit makes it really fast-FWD) This car is about the best "bang for the buck" for an inexpensive performance car

2) '95-'02 Chevy Camaro Z28 or SS (get the V8, not the V6-RWD)

3) Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-X (AWD)

A very fast one:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct鈥?/a>

4) Toyota MR-2 Spyder (RWD)

The MR-2 Spyder is slow, but it gets good fuel economy, and with a turbo or more powerful engine can be made to be fast, as it's quite light.

5) BMW E46 M3 (RWD)

6) Mazda MX-5 Miata (the new model with exposed headlights-RWD)

This one isn't fast either, but it's a RWD car, making it better for power increases. However, it's more difficult to give a bigger engine or whatever, because that will most likely mess up the weight balance.

Also, the new model is available with a convertible hardtop, which I think is pretty cool.

7) '93-'95 Mazda RX-7 (twin turbo-RWD)

8) Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo (RWD)

Here's a fast one:

9) GMC Typhoon (fast SUV-RWD)

10) '04-'06 Pontiac GTO (RWD)

11) Mitsubishi Lancer Evo (AWD)

12) Subaru WRX STi (AWD)

Both of these (11 %26amp; 12) are fast, handle well, and can take power increases fairly well. After all, they're essentially street-legal rally-cars.

13) MazdaSpeed3 (FWD)

14) 2008 Chevy Cobalt SS (turbo-FWD)

15) Dodge Caliber SRT-4 (FWD)

A more refined car than the Neon SRT-4, this one is also heavier and not quite as fast, but still quick.

16) Mercedes C32 AMG (RWD)

17) Mercedes C55 AMG (RWD)

18) Audi S4 (RWD)

19) Audi S6 (RWD)

20) Subaru WRX (AWD)

21) Acura RSX or RSX Type S (FWD)

22) Acura Integra VTEC or GS-R (FWD)

23)Toyota Celica or Celica GT-S (FWD)

24) Mustang GT (RWD)

25) Mazda RX-8 (RWD)

A few 0-60 times:

GMC Typhoon: 5 seconds or less

GTO: about 4.7 seconds.

M3: About 4.5

SRT-4: 5.5

MazdaSpeed3: 5.5

2008 Cobalt SS (turbo): 5.5

Audi S4: About 5 seconds

Audi S6: 6 seconds or less

Mercedes C32 AMG: About 4.8 seconds

Camaro Z28: 5.5

The Camaro SS is probably faster than the Z28.

The SRT-4 can decrease that sprint to below 5 seconds with a MOPAR Stage 3 kit, while a Stage 2 will make it run low-5s, probably.

The Acura RSX Type S does 0-60 in 7.8 or less (no faster than the 6-second range, if that). The Miata and MR-2 Spyder both get from 0

|||Are you trying to use the Mits as a computer monitor or watch movies through it? Hook up the Sony to the computer input on the Mitsubishi with a vga cable just like you would with a regular computer monitor. Then set tv input to VGA or whatever the Mitsubishi refers to it as.

Where can i good performance chips for my mitsubishi mirage 98?

I've looked into SLR's and PCD's performance chips offering 50+ HP and TQ and i've read a lot of people calling it junk.

Where can i actually find a true and reliable computer peformance chip i can install on my mitsubishi mirage to give me good HP and TQ.|||You have a Mirage! Nothing is going to change that. Enjoy the good gas mileage and save your money so one day you can buy a performance car if that's what you really want.|||The Mirage is a fine gas mileage car. It is NOT a performance car by any stretch of the imagination. Nobody reputable BOTHERS to make performance parts for the Mirage because it isn't worth the effort.|||check out www.voloperformance.com.|||Why would you do that? It is a Mitsubishi mirage......

Is it possible to turbocharge a stock Mitsubishi Lancer? If so, what can I expect to pay?

Is it possible to turbocharge a stock Mitsubishi Lancer? If so, what can I expect to pay?

I'd also like anything you can give me that I would also need to run said turbo.|||There are a few websites that offer a full turbo kit for the stock/base Lancer. 1) www.turbo-kits.com, 2) www.roadracemotorsports.com, 3) www.accoladesportparts.com, all of these have their own prices but with full kits. You can safely set up the turbo kit from 5-7 psi before having to do any internal engine work. Very pricey, but worth it if you have the money. I plan on throwing a turbo kit into my 2006 Lancer once I get the money. Good luck.|||Yes, I have seen a few people turbo stock lancers. They want the look and some of the power of the might Lancer Evolution. In fact many take the engine and transmission from wrecked Evo's and put them in their Lancers, but remember they are front wheel drive, not awd like the Evo. The previous Lancer had a few turbo kits out for it, the new one(2007- up) dosn't have anything yet. I think I saw a turbonatics kit for the old Lancer that was bolt on. Make sure to get a intercooler, blow off valve, injectors, fuel pump and boost control with a turbo kit. Full downpipe, exhaust and intake help to. Happy boosting!

Can someone who's owned a Mitsubishi eclipse spyder and got in a wreck tell me how it held up?

I'm considering buying a 2008 Mitsubishi eclipse spyder and I'm a little concerned about safety because it is so small. I know I can look up safety ratings and all that junk but I kinda wanted to know a personal experience about the car and whether it was good or bad...? Anybody?|||Probably notttt very good considering there is no hard top or cage that would protect the passengers if another car were to hit them and make them roll. Nothing but a flimsy door for protection.|||i haven't got a mitsubishi eclipse but check this :
